About SerpentAesthetics
Luke Glendenning is the artist behind SerpentAesthetics.
Growing up with an artist for a father, art has been a part of Luke’s world since before he could talk! Once he graduated from scribbling on walls, Luke drew upon his obsession with animals as a source of subjects for his work. This childhood obsession evolved into an adult career, with Luke working as a reptile keeper and now a veterinarian. Luke is currently undertaking a residency in zoo, wildlife and conservation medicine, meaning that on any given day, his patients can range from a 2-gram critically endangered corroboree frog to a 1.8-tonne rhinoceros!
SerpentAesthetics was born in 2021 when Luke decided it was time to dust off the cobwebs and pick up a pen for the first time in a decade. Once again, he looked to his childhood obsession with reptiles as inspiration for his work. The aim was to create bold, dynamic, show-stopping pieces that people would want to hang on their wall, drawing on the styles of old school movie posters and pop art to create works that make a statement. Luke wants everyone to appreciate the incredible diversity of Australia’s herpetofauna, so his work is designed to be a conversation starter positioned front and centre in your home!
